Cable & Wireless pledges commitment to local tourism sector
During the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association’s annual general meeting at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, the island’s leading telecoms provider once again reiterated its commitment to national development by pledging its support to the local hospitality sector.
“As Caribbean people, we are acutely aware that we all have a role to play in the vital tourism industry and I want you to know this philosophy extends to both Flow and C&W Business,” said Jenson Sylvester, Managing Director, Flow Barbados.
“From a hospitality perspective, there’s no denying that the modern, always-on visitor is now seeking convenience, mobility, flexibility and above all else, reliable access to the things that matter most. In short, they yearn to be connected anytime, anywhere and from any device. This is why we plan to continue to focus our efforts on the hospitality sector.”
Sylvester, a senior telecoms executive with over fifteen years’ experience, was delivering remarks at the BHTA’s meeting.
“Just as we continue to invest in our networks, we will continue to invest in our relationship with the hospitality sector and I want you to know that you can count on Flow and C&W Business to support the good work you are doing for the benefit of all Barbadians” he added.
Sylvester also said that despite recent challenges, the local hospitality sector continued to punch above its weight.
“We know the local hospitality sector has been carrying a heavy burden of late, however, please lean on us as you seek new and creative ways to improve operational efficiencies and accelerate your time-to-revenue strategies, and by leveraging these synergies, we are confident of increased opportunities for the entire country,” he said.
Flow’s top executive also welcomed the recent announcement from Prime Minister Mia Mottley that Government will be refocusing its efforts around making Wi-Fi accessible to the general public in high traffic areas.
“We were also very pleased to hear from the Prime Minister earlier this week of the renewed focus around public Wi-Fi projects and I want you to know that Cable & Wireless already has the infrastructure in place and we stand ready to work with all stakeholders to see these projects become a reality in the shortest possible timeframe” he said.
