What to look for in a 5G phone

When choosing a 5G phone, start with the features that matter most for your daily use. Camera quality, battery life, screen size, performance and price can make a bigger difference than choosing a device based on 5G alone.

If you use your phone for photos, videos or social media, camera performance may be a priority. For streaming, gaming, video calls or longer periods of mobile use, battery life and display quality become more important.

Performance also matters if you switch between apps, play games or use your phone for work. Premium devices usually offer stronger processors and more advanced camera systems, while mid-range models can still provide a solid 5G experience at a lower price.

Before buying, also check that the device is compatible with Flow’s 5G network and supports the features you want to use, such as eSIM.

How to check if your phone is compatible with Flow 5G

Before buying or activating a device, check that the exact model is listed as 5G Ready for our network. The compatibility page lets you search by device name or model number and confirm the required software version.

You also need a 5G-ready SIM card and must be in an area with 5G coverage. If your device and SIM are compatible, your phone can connect to 5G automatically where the network is available.

If you plan to use eSIM, check device support separately before activation. 5G compatibility and eSIM support are related, but they are not the same requirement. Current eSIM-supported devices include the Galaxy S26 Series, iPhone 17 Series and iPhone Air.
